Win For Africa

Win For Africa Foundation (WAF) was founded by Winifred Adjei as a health and social care community project for families in Greater Accra Region. I attended the launch on Saturday 22nd August at the Chiefs palace courtyard in Gbawe, Accra, Ghana. The forecourt was full of invited guests from the community, dignitaries and local children. Winne was one of the first people I met a few years ago in April 2018 at a networking event when I settled in Ghana
– so we kept in touch.

Where did the initial idea stem from?

Winnie initiative commenced with a meme she saw โ€“ why donโ€™t you get a empty handbag and fill it with sanitary towels and give to a homeless women and thought this is a brilliant idea.

During her time in the UK October 2019 she coordinated a Donation Drive for items such as sanitary supplies, nappy sack bags and baby wipes which provided Sanatory Kits for young school girls to manage hygiene and sanitary needs during their menstrual cycle. Back in Ghana in November 2019 she planned to establish an organisation to carry out her mission. This was originally targeted for females in Tamale in the Northern region – then Covoid19 happened – so decided to operate in Gbawe, Accra, as her idea was also a need in her local community.

For each needed family to refrain from hunger and have sustainability. Win For Africa is a break down of her initials/name incorporated into the title.
